Thank you for making the trip to join us on our special day. Mackinac Island has a short season and books up quickly. If you are able to attend, we recommend booking your travel in advance.
Getting to Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island sits in Lake Huron, between Michigan’s Upper and Lower peninsulas. Surrounded by water, the only way to get there is via ferry.
We will be providing shuttles to and from Traverse City on the major travel days, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, to align with common flight arrival times, but you may also rent a car if you so choose. Overnight parking is available in Mackinaw City, where the ferry to Mackinac Island picks up.
Ferry tickets for Shepler's can be booked up until the day before your trip, and fortunately, your ticket can be used on any departure, it is not time-sensitive. Be sure to use our code boat23 for a discounted ticket and book a roundtrip ticket!
If you are not taking one of our provided shuttles, please review the ferry timetable here. Shuttle times have been arrange around the Shepler’s schedule. You will receive an email with your assigned shuttle details ahead of the wedding weekend or contact darcykirkland@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Staying on Mackinac Island
Mackinac Island, fondly called America’s Summer Place, has a number of lovely resorts, boutique hotels, bed & breakfasts and rental homes. We have reserved blocks at three hotels on the island. Should you choose to stay elsewhere and have questions or if the block is full at your desired hotel, please email thedarmodys@getthemtothegrand.com.
Please note that in order to take advantage of the room blocks we have created you must book accommodations no later than May 31st, 2023.
Our wedding weekend events will take place throughout the hotel and the grounds. For your convenience, a block of rooms has been reserved at The Grand Hotel. Book using the link below to receive our discounted rate. If you go through The Grand website directly you will not get this rate.
Room rates are $380 or $430 per night.
The Grand Hotel
If you choose not to stay at The Grand, we also have a room block at The Chippewa in downtown, adjacent to the ferry dock. To book, you may use the link below or call the Front Desk at 906-847-3341. The room rate is $319 per night.
The Chippewa Waterfront Hotel
